PortCityFutures offers two positions for 18 months in the Time Travel project.
A 0,5 FTE position is offered at the HCU Hamburg https://www.hcu-hamburg.de/universitaet/stellenausschreibungen/ for someone with an urban planning/urban history background. The goal is to “Im Rahmen des Projekts Time Travel soll eine Methodik entwickelt werden zur Analyse und Visualisierung der komplexen sozio-räumlichen städtischen und regionalen Transformationen und der Auswirkungen auf die Planung nach Pandemien mit historische Karten und Texten sowie GIS-basierter Visualisierung von sozio-räumlichen gesundheitsbezogenen Daten und kurz- und langfristige Veränderungen auf regionaler Ebene.”
Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) is hiring a 1,0 post-doctoral researcher for interdisciplinary research on machine learning applications for analyzing historic maps. Here, in addition to training and deploying a ML model, a strong focus is on data engineering challenges connected to this task, e.g., crowdsourcing for label generation, integrating data sources, etc. Knowledge of historical geospatial mapping (ArcGis, QGis, etc.) and deep mapping will be an important part of the work. Also, visualization of results is in the focus. The goal is to develop an interdisciplinary methods for socio-spatial exploring in line with the concept of “deep mapping.”
