Annabelle Duval

Job title
Postdoctoral Researcher & Professional Workshop Coordinator

Annabelle Duval is a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, TU Delft. Trained in Political Science and Urban Studies, she holds a PhD in Geography. Her work is grounded in political ecology and examines the governance of socio-ecological transitions, with a particular focus on ecological imaginaries, infrastructural narratives, and the envisioned futures of large technical systems in port territories. Her doctoral research focused on the port regions of Los Angeles and the Loire estuary, analysing how environmental concerns and infrastructural dynamics shape territorial governance. Her postdoctoral research project explores how counter-imaginaries for port territories can be co-created through infrastructure narrative-building, with case studies along the Seine Axis in France and the Rotterdam Delta. As a member of the Port City Futures research centre, she coordinates professional education courses and moderates MOOCs. In addition, she is a core team member of the EU COST Action PACT as well as a member of the PACT journal editorial board.
